Volunteering at a festival is a unique experience. In fact, INDIEPENDENCE was started by a group of friends who met while volunteering at a music festival. Volunteering at a music, film or art festival can mean getting free tickets, discounts or ‘crew’ perks, as well as gaining an insight into how major events are put together.

Do I need experience?

No, although you do need to be 18 or over so technically you do need at least 18 years experience of existing.

What will I do?

Help out with tasks such as giving out wristbands, car parking, monitoring gates, stewarding or just keeping an eye on things. If you already have experience in things like first aid or stewarding you could end up taking on a role with more responsibility, such as managing a team of stewards. Depending on the role you take on you will be expected to work a series of shifts over the course of the festival. At INDIEPENDENCE, this is 2 * 10 hour work shifts meaning you get one full day off at INDIE. In general all our shifts are done before midnight so you still have plenty time each day to take in the atmosphere.

What does it cost?

It’s free although you will need to pay a deposit of €100, half before the start date and half on registration. This will be paid back in full upon completion of your shifts or before you leave the festival site on Monday.
