COMMON SENSE!

Health & Safety – The Boring but Important Stuff!!

Do dress for the occasion, it’s a festival in a field and this is Ireland! Dress for Summer but prepare for rain

Do pack some sun screen, warm weather and beer can dehydrate you

Do drink plenty of water

Do print the daily schedule so you know where and when the bands you want to see are on

Do look after your wristband; you will need it to get back in on day two!

Do observe the privacy of our neighbours as you arrive and leave the festival

Do Not bring glass, sharp objects or weapons of any sort onto the site, they will be confiscated and you will be removed from the site and worse, possibly arrested

Do Not bring illegal narcotics onto the site, they will be confiscated and you will be reported to the Police.

Do Not drink too much; you will only ruin your own enjoyment and that of those around you

Do not act before you think, please be aware of the safety of yourself and those around you at INDIEPENDENCE.

GENERAL FAQ:

Q. What is INDIEPENDENCE?

A. INDIEPENDENCE is an independently run festival weekender. The event takes place across 4 stages and has an intimate capacity of 5,000.

Q. Where is INDIEPENDENCE?

A. INDIEPENDENCE is located at a new venue this year at Deer Park Mitchelstown, Co. Cork. Deer Park is located on the old Dublin Road out of Mitchelstown. It is less than 1 miles from the centre of Mitchelstown.

Q. When is it on?

A. It is taking place on the August Bank holiday each year which falls on July 31st & August 1st 2010. The campsite opens on July 30th at 4:00PM

Q. What tickets are available?

A. There are weekend camping and weekend non-camping tickets available at €79 and €59 respectively. If travelling by car a parking ticket will also be required. These are priced at €10.

Q. What time does it start?

A. The arena opens each day at 12:00PM. There is an onsite campsite which opens Friday July 30th at 4:00PM to enable campers to get there early and relax.

Q. What is the line up?

Q. Will the full running times for the different days be made available before the event?

A. Yes they will be posted on the website the week preceding the festival.

Q. Will you be showing any sporting events?

A. No, there will be no sporting events shown but there are numerous places locally to view.

Q. I purchased a ticket online at www.ticketgroup.ie over 2 weeks ago and still haven’t received it, who should I talk to?

Q. Are there more acts to be announced?

A. Acts are announced during the run up so continue to check the website for updates between now and August.

CAMPING:

Q. Is the camp site secure?

A. The camp site is on an enclosed onsite location, right beside the festival arena, and manned by a security team.

Q. What is the earliest I can arrive to the festival? And when must I leave?

A. The campsite opens at 4PM Friday 30th July and will close 1pm Mon 2nd August.

Q. Will there be a shop on site where I can purchase basic provisions, i.e. bread, milk, toilet roll?

A. Yes, the Campsite shop will sell all basic provisions.

Q. Can I park my car beside my tent?

A. No, this is not allowed for health & safety reasons and sleeping in your own car/van is not permitted. If you are intending on staying then you are obliged to stay on the campsite, not the car park.

Q. What facilities are there? Will there be showers?

A. There are hot showers, wash basins and toilets. Their location will be shown on the festival map. Separate Male & Female showers are available but these will be communal.

Q. My wife & I would like to bring our children, where is the best place to camp?

A. We have a designated Family Campsite, ensure you enquire on arrival. Children UNDER 12 are free. Children aged 12-17 are not permitted entry unless accompanied by a guardian over the age of 18. This guardian will need to sign the minor onsite and provide the crew with a number at which we can contact them at all times in the event of an emergency. The guardian will be a paying customer  of the festival and will take full responsibility for the safety of the minor the accompany to the event.

Q. Can I bring a Campervan?

A. Yes. You will require a Weekend Camping & Parking ticket for the campervan. Each person travelling in it must also have a separate event ticket.  A campervan is a lot different from a commercial van. Commercial vans will not be allowed to park in the campsite, but rather in the car park.

Q. Can I bring a generator for my campervan?

A. No generator of any kind is permitted on the campsite.

Q. Can I have my Campervan hooked up to electric power?

A. This is not an option, no.

Q. Can I pitch a tent beside my campervan?

A. No, due to health & safety reasons.

Q. Can I access my car during the weekend?

A. Yes you are free to access your car any time you please.

Q. Can I leave the festival site and return during the weekend?

A. On foot you are free to come and go as you please. You will only be able to remove your car in an emergency.

FACILITIES:

Food & Drink – The Bars on-site are open from 2pm to 10pm daily. There is a variety of high quality food available on site while the bars and restaurants of Mitchelstown are just a few short minutes walk away.

Bavaria has been brewed in Holland since 1719 by the Swinkel family. Today we only use natural mineral water from our own wells, malt from its own maltery and the finest hops. Q. What washing facilities are there? Will there be showers?

A. There are showers, toilets & waste disposal facilities on site.

Q. How much beer can I bring in with me?

A. Beer can be brought into the camp site but not to the main arena. No glass is permitted onsite and plastic bottles only will be permitted – bottle caps will be removed at arena entrance. One tray of beer (24 cans per person) is allowed on the campsite.

Q. Is alcohol served?

A. Alcohol is served onsite at numerous different locations.

ACCESS:

Q. Are all ages allowed?

A. Under 12s go free and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Q. ID required?

A. The festival is an Over 18 event, Photo ID must be presented on arrival if age is in question. However: Children aged 12 and under are permitted free of charge, no ticket required. (Must be accompanied with an adult at all times.) Minors between the ages of 12 and 17 are not permitted unless accompanied by a guardian over the age of 18. This guardian will need to sign the minor onsite and provide the crew with a number at which we can contact them at all times in the event of an emergency. The guardian will be a paying customer  of the festival and will take full responsibility for the safety of the minor the accompany to the event.

Q. What are the age restrictions?

A. The event is not open to 12-17 year olds. All under 12’s to be accompanied by an adult. This is non-negotiable. Under 12’s, accompanied, are permitted, free of charge. The festival has a kiddie’s area but we definitely advise full supervision at all times. This area is not a drop off point.Minors aged 12-17 are only permitted when accompanied by a guardian over the age of 18. This guardian will need to sign the minor onsite and provide the crew with a number at which we can contact them at all times in the event of an emergency. The guardian will be a paying customer  of the festival and will take full responsibility for the safety of the minor the accompany to the event.

Q. Will there be food available?

A. There are numerous different food vendors and we also cater for vegetarians.

Q. Is there wheelchair access?

A. Yes there is access by wheelchair. It is best to contact in advance so that arrangements can be made if there are any special requirements. Please note that wheelchair access is available and we will do our best to accommodate you but parts of the site may be inaccessible.
